Many evenings I read Bibles stories to my children from their picture Bible (Scholastic’s Read and Learn Bible). Our two-and-a-half-year-old daughter lately has been fascinated with “seeing herself” in the pictures. She points to one and asks, “Me?” and then points to another and wonders if it her brother. She is intent on literally seeing herself as an important character in these stories. I love it that she expects herself to be a part of these grand narratives.
